Brakeline: let depot leads approve drivers

Description

Hi,

two questions from our operations director after last week's depot meeting:

  1. Can depot leads approve new drivers at their own depot? We take on 30–40 drivers a month at Leeds and Doncaster alone, and every one waits for Sam or me.
  2. Could regional managers approve for their region? We have North (Leeds, York, Bradford, Wakefield) and South (Doncaster, Sheffield, Hull, Grimsby, Immingham).

If either is possible, how do we set it up?

Hi Priya,

Neither is possible today, I'm afraid.

  1. Depot leads: only administrators can approve or refuse requests. A depot manager sees their own depot's requests but can't decide them (Callum ran into this in May).
  2. Regional managers: the portal has no idea of a region. Roles apply to the whole organisation, so there's nothing to give a regional manager that covers only their depots.

I've logged both with product. Northgate asked for the depot version, for their sites, in March (SUP-702).

Logged as ENG-1492 next to SUP-702. Depot managers approving keeps coming up; it's on my list for the autumn, not this quarter (Okta, MFA, reports, import first). Regions are a separate, bigger ask: we'd need regions in the model. Treat as two things.

Hi Priya, from the planning: depot leads approving is on the list for the autumn, regional managers aren't planned. I'll keep this ticket open and update it when there's a date.

Lena decided today in ACM-231: depot managers approve, for their own depot only; regional managers not for now. Build starts as ACM-247. Will tell Priya when it ships.

Hi Priya, an update on point 1: since Thursday 1 October, the approver's role can be held per depot. A depot lead with it approves requests from their own depot's people, and only those. Administrators still see everything under All requests.

Point 2, regional managers, isn't part of it; that ask stays on file with product. Closing this ticket, and happy to walk Sam through setting the nine depot managers up.
